VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

AfricaRice offers technical and financial support to a PhD student already enrolled in an African university,
within the framework of a large-scale research project implemented in Mali.

About the Position
The Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice) is a leading pan-African research organization committed to improving
livelihoods through efficient rice-based systems. AfricaRice is a member of the CGIAR system and comprises
28 African countries, with headquarters in Côte d’Ivoire.

Background
The Africa Rice Center leads in Mali the project “Scaling Gender-Equitable System of Rice Intensification
(SRI) in Mali: A One Health Approach for Resilient Rice Systems and Improved Nutrition and Malaria
Outcomes.”
The objective of this project is to catalyze the widespread and gender-inclusive adoption of the System of Rice
Intensification (SRI) among smallholder farming communities in Mali, particularly in the regions of Segou,
Sikasso, and Koulikoro, which account for more than 60% of the country’s rice production…
